Responding to an alarm at the Government Data Center, Michael encounters the villain known as Durante – and then gets shot full of bullets. After K.I.T.T. comes to the rescue, Michael is rushed to hospital; he soon recovers, but the experience leaves him shaken and depressed, and he decides to quit the Foundation. As a parting gift to his colleague, Devon reunites Michael with his long-time love Stevie; the two soon decide to marry – unaware that Durante has put out a contract for Michael's death…
